Ideal Client Profile

This is a big deal in marketing circles.

As you scout for Studio Combine clients, here’s what to look for:

1) nice (or nice-ish) people you get along with

2) curious people who think about the everyday

3) patient people with ants in their pants

That’s kind of it. I don’t have criteria for wallet thickness or pedigree. Just good heads on square shoulders, who believe in making things happen. A sense of humor, maybe. Willingness to roll with the punches. If our personalities can mesh then it doesn’t really matter WHAT the project is; we just need to sit down, set the project parameters, and then keep an open mind about meeting those.

Building type isn’t important (I’ve worked on most), project size isn’t important (opportunities for efficiencies abound), and budget is only as important as the priorities a client assigns within it.

The ‘open mind’ part tends to be the kicker. If a potential client lacks aspiration and curiosity, then I’m not the right fit. Glamour doesn’t have to be there but the potential for thoughtful give and take does. I’m not the guy for someone who expects a pre-formulated building to spring forth on demand for a minimal set fee. This thing’s a journey, man. It gets intense. You’ve got to give in to the process.

I get incredibly happy when clients can relax and ‘play’ as they throw themselves at the largest, most stressful investment in their lives….because that’s the exact same moment when perspective outweighs anxiety, possibility wins out over assumption, and vision comes back into view.
